Overview
A License Plate Number (LPN) is a unique barcode ID assigned to a physical container, such as a carton, tote, pallet or bin. With LPN Management, Anchanto WMS tracks the container and everything inside it. Your team can receive, put away, count, move, pick, pack and return stock by scanning the LPN, and you keep a clear record of where each container has been.
This article explains how LPN Management is set up and which guide to use at each stage of your warehouse operations.
Before you begin
- LPN Management is available in Anchanto WMS 3.0.
- It is enabled in three levels, in this order:
- Admin (tenant) level. Enabled by Anchanto only. Contact your Account Manager to get started.
- Warehouse level. Enabled by authorised warehouse users.
- Customer level. Enabled per customer, so you can roll out LPN for selected customers only.
- LPN Management is optional. Warehouses and customers where it isn't enabled continue to work as they do today.
- If you plan to use Storage LPNs as bins (Bin Management), note that this cannot be enabled together with the LPN Inbound module. Your Account Manager can help you choose the right setup.
Key concepts
- LPN Container. The container type (for example, a carton or pallet), with its dimensions and capacity.
- LPN. An individual container with its own unique ID, created from a container type.
- Statuses. Every LPN is Unallocated, Allocated, Blocked or Archived.
- Parent–Child LPNs. LPNs can be nested two levels deep, for example cartons on a pallet.
- Capacity validation. WMS can check weight and volume so containers aren't overloaded.
